The most important thing to remember is that the firebox becomes hot
when in use. Please keep children and pets clear of the grill when in use and
for a few hours after use. Also be sure not to start a fire under any
structures such as roofs or patios as a fire or smoke damage can occur.
Keep your grill looking better and lasting longer by keeping the grill
dry. Wet ash will also accelerate rusting of the inside of the box. If the
inside of the box does become wet, simply empty the wet ash as soon as
possible. It is recommended that you keep the grill under cover such as a
garage or patio, or to use a grill cover or tarp. Please remember the ashes
will remain hot many hours after use so you should wait before covering your
grill after use.
When starting a fire try to keep the wood or charcoal in the center of the
box until it has burned down and then spread the fire and coals using the wood
poker.
To add life to your grill, place a couple of inches of sand on the bottom
of your grill or to leave a small layer of ash on the bottom to keep direct
flame and hot coals off the grill bottom.
To keep your grill looking new, once a year sand or brush any rough or
flaky areas with sand paper or a wire brush and apply a coat of Rustoleum®
high heat enamel or other high heat paint.
Do not burn trash or large amounts of paper or cardboard in the BBQ
because the rapid high heat can warp the firebox. Large wood fires can also
break down the paint and steel faster than using a sufficient amount of wood
or charcoal.
Wood cutting boards should remain indoors when not in use. They can dry
out and crack if left outdoors.
